Our accumulator cylinders are designed to efficiently store hydraulic energy and release it when required. Accumulator cylinders include, for example, fall-back supports for mobile cranes and piston accumulators used in the onshore and offshore segment. An accumulator cylinder is a cylinder with an integrated hydraulic gas accumulator in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive.
The guying of a crane jib serves to increase the load capacity. It can be made using ropes or rods and must be continuously tracked and kept under tension for safe operation while the boom is moving or when the boom angle changes. A central element here is the so-called fall-back support, which exerts a compressive force on the boom to ensure defined force ratios in the bracing even when the boom is in a steep position.
A key feature of the drop-back support is the compression force-stroke characteristic. This is determined by the choice of accumulator type, its design and the cylinder geometry. As the function of the drop-back support is relevant to safety, failure of the drop-back support could lead to the crane tipping over.
Accumulator cylinders are used in numerous applications, especially where a constant energy supply and force equalization are required.
